Reading time: 3 minutes
So whether we like it or not, summer is gone. However, autumn is here. Don’t be deceived by the occasional sunshine that we’ve seen over the autumn weeks. On one of these sunny days, I decided that wearing a long-sleeved blouse would be enough to keep me warm with no jacket. Well, it turned out that I was wrong and it was chilly enough I had to wrap my hands around me for some warmth.
Now, it’s time to ditch the summer clothes until next year. Or better still you can transition your summer clothes and still wear them throughout the autumn and winter months. This means that you’ll get the most out of your clothes and you get to save money from buying new clothes.
Keep reading for 5 ways to transition your wardrobe summer piece and make them suitable for autumn.
1. Wear tights
Style notes: whether you are wearing a mini skirt, shorts or a dress; adding tights to your outfit will keep your legs warm and ready for the cold.
Tip: make sure to prioritize quality over price or quantity, if not you’ll end up spending so much money buying tights every week because they keep getting ripped.
2. Wear layers
Style notes: add layers to your outfit for an autumn-ready look. You could start by wearing a thermal vest and finish off with a knit jumper, cardigan or scarf.
3. Add a jacket
Style notes: invest in a leather jacket, trench coat and/or thick cardigan. For a start, stick to neutral colours such as black, white, khaki, grey as it’s easier to style. You can gradually increase your collection if you wish.
4. Swap to boots
Shop: Boots are from ASOS
Style notes: try to invest in at least 2 pairs of boots: one for day to day use and one for the dressy days. Also, you might want to start off by purchasing neutral coloured boots and slowly build your boots collection.
5. Jeans instead of shorts
Style notes: wear a pair of jeans instead of shorts. There are so many fit and options for you to choose from. The thick fabric and length makes it perfect for the cold.
