Last month, I had a girls weekend break to Nottingham for my friend’s bridal shower. We had organized to stay at the Lace Market Apartments. Before the journey, we had decided on what decorations to use, what games to play, what food to eat and most importantly what time to arrive at the apartment all in preparation for the bridal shower.
The journey to Nottingham was long and tiring. I woke up at 7:30 am, packed my suitcase and got ready. Packing my suitcase was straightforward and took about 5 minutes as I already had a list of things that I planned on taking with me. I spent the rest of my time (about an hour) getting ready and applying my makeup.
Save time and hassle during packing, check out my travel checklist (coming soon)
But first, let me take a selfie
I traveled with a coach as it was significantly cheaper than getting the train, plus I had the company of 5 other ladies. The coach was scheduled to leave Victoria Coach Station at 11:30 am. Usually, the journey to Victoria Station was about 1-hour max. However, I wanted to make sure that I have enough travel time to accommodate any unforeseen circumstances, so I left my house at about 9:15 am. I finally arrived at Victoria Station at about 10:30 am after having to get an overground, underground and a train. Since I had ample time, I decided to get some food and snacks.
I got to Victoria Coach Station 15 minutes before the scheduled time for the coach to leave but unfortunately, the coach was delayed for 20 minutes.
We finally started our journey and arrived at Nottingham by 3 pm, then walked to the apartment which was only 10 minutes away.
When we arrived at the apartment, we spent time looking around the apartment, taking pictures, decorating the place and preparing some food.
Later in the evening, we changed into our pyjamas, welcomed our bride to be, who was very surprised and happy.
We then got temporary gold tattoos and spent the rest of the night playing games, eating, singing, dancing, taking pictures, making a photobook, writing notes to the couple and opening gifts.
Lace Market Apartments Review
Location: the apartment is located near the city center. It is a walking distance from the train and coach stations as well as grocery stores (Tesco, M&S) and other local amenities.
Price: the apartment is more on the expensive side. However, you get what you pay for as the flats are really beautiful and worth the spend.
Kitchen: the kitchen is fully equipped so that you feel at home easily. You’re provided with plates, mugs, kettle, cooker, oven, washing up liquid, sponge, etc.
On arrival, you could quickly make yourself some coffee, hot chocolate or tea these were already provided as well as a kettle. If you brought your food, there is a fridge to store it and a microwave to heat it later. You also have the option to cook or use the oven if you wanted to.
Bedroom: the bedrooms are very spacious, airy and full of light. There is also enough storage space available. Each bedroom is en-suite.
A bedroom in the penthouse
Toilet and bathroom: the apartment provided toilet paper, towels and hand/shower gel. This means that you can pack light.
WiFi connection: at the entrance of the apartment, you are provided with details of how to connect to the WiFi. Connecting to the WiFi was very straightforward and the WiFi connection was good. Mobile signal is also good in the area.
Points for improvement
In one of the flats we booked, the hot water in the bathroom for one of the rooms wasn’t working which meant that people in that room had to use the shower in the other room.
Also, the floor in the dining area of the penthouse was so slippery that at one point most of the girls slipped. So, if you were ever going to stay at the penthouse of this apartment, be careful!
Lastly, in the penthouse living space, there were speakers which we couldn’t utilize as there was no detail on how to connect to it. You might want to go with your speakers unless you are tech-savvy and will be able to figure out the connectivity. That being said, I guess you could contact the apartment manager to get this sorted for you.
Overall, I am very pleased with the apartment. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is going to Nottingham but also want some luxury. The whole place is sleek and tidy.
